Foo Bots is a game where programmers can directly pit their skills against other programmers. It creates a virtual world where "smart" robots battle one another with a variety of weapons. All stratagems are pre-programmed and adaptability is the key. The best, most flexible AI wins.
Bot programs can be edited and tweaked as much as desired between battles, but once a battle begins the bot is completely on its own. The bot's program must evaluate sensory input, control movements, fire weapons, and ultimately destroy the opponent bot, all without human interaction.
Please check out the demo by clicking on the "Demo" tab on the menu bar above. This is simply a replay of a mock 30-second battle between two bots showing the basic graphics layout and control system. A variety of camera angles can be selected and the replay can be stopped/started or jumped to any time index at will.
If you would like a go at programming your own bot, click on the "Program" tab. There you can edit your bot's code and give it your own unique instructions. When you're ready for a test, click on the "Fight" tab to see it in action.
If you like the concept and would like to contribute to its development, please send us an email at devel@foobots.net. Several areas of design will likely change over time based on user feedback, such as weapons, defenses, and sensors. The latest official specifications will be listed under the "Specs" tab.
If you know someone who enjoys a good strategic and technical challenge, please send them this way. The finished game should be perfect for those obsessive, creative, detail-driven people commonly called engineers, programmers, and IT folks.
Thanks!
